The Digital
Motion X-Ray is a technical piece of equipment. It has a
specially produced low density x-ray head (providing less patient
exposure to radiation) and an image intensifier that receives the
x-ray beam and converts the image into a digital image. That
is the unique quality of the system (unlike standard x-ray film) in
that it incorporates low level x-ray and medical grade video
recording devices (VCR & monitor) to clearly visualize and
record hard tissue (bone) while it is moving through a full range of
motion. Digital
Motion X-Ray provides accurate, crystal-clear, moving images to aid
in diagnosis and treatment planning for: symptomatic patients;
patients injured in vehicular crashes; worker's compensation cases;
pain management; sports injuries; upper cervical spine injuries or
degenerative diseases; anterior or posterior listhesis; facet
gapping and chronic subluxation; TMD; and barium swallow studies.

The areas most frequently
studied are the cervical spine, facet joints, and the
temporomandibular joints. Extremities, shoulders, back and
primary elbow, wrist, knee and ankle joints are also easily
visualized using DMX. It is of primary importance in the
care of the patient to establish the presence of ligamentous
damage, as these ligaments do not heal. The movement of the
articular surfaces results in pain via fibers of the nervous
system. Long term degenerative damage results from
connective tissue injuries. MRI, ultra-sound, plain film
x-rays and other diagnostic tools CANNOT diagnose connective
tissue injuries. Only DMX provides objective visual documentation
of ligamentous injury.
